Samsung Galaxy S5 priced at €500 in India
The Samsung Galaxy S5 has reached India and in anticipation of that the price of its predecessor dropped sharply. The Galaxy S5 was shortly available for sale on Saholic but has since been removed.
Anyway, the important thing – the price – is known. Samsung's new flagship will set users back INR 45,500 ($745 / €540), which is a little more than what the Galaxy S4 cost when it launched (INR 41,500).
The former flagship has since been dropped to around INR 30,000 ($490/€355). Note that this is the I9500 (Exynos chipset), the I9505 (Snapdragon) is hard to find.
Anyway, since the product page has been pulled down it's not clear when the S5 flagship will actually go on sale. When it goes back up, it should appear here.
In Europe the target launch date is in April and the device costs €600 or more, although this latest posting suggests that these pre-order prices might be over-inflated. If interested you can book the smartphone in multiple European countries.
Samsung Galaxy S5 For T-Mobile To Sell In 16GB And 32GB Models
U.S. mobile carriers haven't provided much detail about the Samsung Galaxy S5 release, but a recently leaked document claims to have uncovered an interesting tidbit about how T-Mobile may tackle its launch of the device.
The document surfaced on Wednesday indicating that T-Mobile plans to offer only the 16GB Galaxy S5 in stores while customers who wish to purchase the 32GB model will have to order the handset online. The document doesn't include information about Galaxy S5's availability, so it's uncertain whether this is how T-Mobile has set up its initial launch of the Galaxy S5 or if this is how the network plans to offer it in the long term.
If the leaked document is valid, T-Mobile offering both internal storage options for the Galaxy S5 would be an improvement from the previous Galaxy S series releases. Notably, the carrier only offers the Samsung Galaxy S4 in its 16GB option when the Galaxy S4 is also available in 32GB and 64GB options. If T-Mobile is offering the 32GB Galaxy S5, consumers will be interested to know if other U.S. carriers will be offering the larger storage option as well. Typically, availability for larger ROM options in the U.S. are limited, with only one or two carriers selling such handsets, several weeks or months after initial launches.
T-Mobile in recent weeks has been quite vocal about the presale interest in its Galaxy S5 model. The Galaxy S5 was unveiled on Feb. 24, and just two days later, the carrier announced that it had received more than 100,000 presale inquiries about the device. Less than two weeks later, T-Mobile reported that it had received more than 300,000 presale inquiries for the Galaxy S5. Notably, the carrier has added an incentive to its preregistration. Those who sign up for more information on the Galaxy S5 are automatically entered in a contest to win a free handset. Though preregistration doesn't determine how many people will ultimately purchase the T-Mobile Galaxy S5, the carrier is hopeful that the record-breaking interest it has received for the device will translate into equally impressive sales.
Samsung says the Galaxy S5 will be available in 150 countries worldwide starting April 11, but many regions and carriers may have their own individual launch dates. International Business Times has spoken to some associates in T-Mobile retail stores who have only been able to tell us that the Galaxy S5 will release sometime in April, but they weren't able to give a specific date.
There's also an early peek at a potential price for the T-Mobile Galaxy S5. Recently, a visitor to the network’s website stumbled upon a placeholder for the Galaxy S5 indicating a price of $672. The placeholder price may not be the actual price of the Samsung Galaxy S5, but it's not likely far off. If accurate, that retail price would be broken down into 24 monthly payments of $28 under T-Mobile’s Un-Carrier program. It's also unknown whether this price would apply to the 16GB model or the 32GB model of the Galaxy S5.
