iOS 7 rolled out for Apple iPhone and iPad devices just earlier this week, providing Apple’s mobile products with one of their biggest software revamps ever.
However, the Cupertino tech giant may be facing some embarrassment over iOS 7’s security. According to a report from Forbes on Thursday, a 36-year-old Spanish soldier has discovered a way to bypass iOS 7’s lockscreen.
In a YouTube video, Jose Rodriguez shows that you can swipe up on the lockscreen, access iOS 7’s control center then open the alarm clock. Rodriquez then shows that you’re able to hold down on the iPhone’s sleep button to bring up the option to power the device off. However, instead of powering it off, you can opt out by hitting “cancel.” Once you’ve done that, you’re able to double click on the home button to access iOS 7’s multitasking options.
Via multitasking, users are then able to access phone photos along with iOS 7’s camera app. Also accessible are social share options for user accounts (including email) along with networks including Flickr, Facebook and Twitter.
Apple, meanwhile, has already responded, telling NBC News, “Apple takes user security very seriously. We are aware of this issue, and will deliver a fix in a future software update.” Until then, you may want to keep a close eye on your device.”
The company was set to officially launch new iPhones including the 5C and 5S today at retail locations.
